This site is being created to track down and link all the members of the Wharrie family and by defacto members of the clan MacQuarrie. As far as I am aware our roots are in the Western Isles of Scotland and then south of the border where the name was anglacised due to the lack of popularity of the highlanders in England at that time. I believe that most of the Wharrie’s originated in northern England around the Liverpool area and most ended up in different parts of the Empire.
While there are other Wharrie’s in Canada, I was the first one from my particular branch to emigrate here in the early 1970’s not knowing anyone. Should you wish to provide information on the Family Tree I am attempting to build please contact me @ michael@wharrie.ca
